PLATELET RICH PLASMA INJECTIONS

Your body already knows how to heal. Sometimes it just needs a push.

THE SECRET THE PROS ALREADY KNOW

In the early 2010s, some of America's greatest athletes were quietly traveling to Europe for mysterious joint treatments.

LeBron James. Kobe Bryant. Peyton Manning. Alex Rodriguez. Tiger Woods flew to see a specialist for his knee and Achilles. They came back stronger, faster, and seemingly younger.

Was it steroids? Performance enhancing drugs?

It was PRP. And now you don't have to fly to Europe to get it.

What is PRP?

Your platelets are the first responders to injury. They release growth factors that start the healing process and attract more immune cells to join the fight.

Platelet rich plasma focuses the power of those platelets into a single targeted injection. We draw a small amount of blood, process it immediately, then inject it into the injury using precise ultrasound guidance. No foreign substances. No surgery. Just your body & its own healing cells delivered exactly where they're needed.

Does it work?

PRP has been used for decades to treat musculoskeletal conditions. It is no longer considered experimental.

The clinical evidence is strong. PRP has solid support for knee osteoarthritis, tennis elbow, patellar tendinitis, rotator cuff disease, and gluteal tendinopathy.

Dr. Kang will tell you honestly whether you are a good candidate for PRP.

What to expect

  1. A small blood draw
  2. Your platelets purified and concentrated
  3. Ultrasound-guided injection

You may experience mild soreness for one to three days. Most patients return to tennis within one week.

IS PRP RIGHT FOR YOU?

PRP works best when your body is already primed to heal. Dr. Kang typically recommends it for patients who are living a healthy lifestyle — non-smokers, minimal alcohol, and a mostly whole food diet without heavily processed foods or excess sugar. These factors meaningfully affect how well your body responds to treatment.

PRP is not appropriate for everyone. Dr. Kang will not recommend it if you have an active infection, a bleeding disorder, or certain blood cancers. Taking blood thinners is okay — we will work with your doctors to hold them for a few days before treatment. Your safety always comes first.

THE BLACK TIE DIFFERENCE

The decade Extension

The Problem:

The standard insurance model treats 60-year-old tennis players like "aging patients." They are told to "take it easy," given a generic cortisone shot, and sent to a high-volume physical therapy clinic.

We treat you like a Professional Masters Athlete. We don't just manage your pain; we optimize your biomechanics and biology to extend your playing career by a decade or more.

"Because 'just getting older' isn't a diagnosis we accept. We specialize in the non-surgical preservation of the elite tennis life."

FEATURE STANDARD INSURANCE PRACTICE Black Tie Masters Longevity
Time with Doctor 10–15 Minutes 60–90 Minutes
The "Plan" "Stop playing for 6 weeks" "Here is how we keep you playing"
Communication Phone tag with a receptionist Direct text/call with your surgeon
Philosophy Reactive (Treat the pain) Proactive (Preserve the joint)
Context You are a "Patient" You are an "Athlete"

faqs

  • Do you accept insurance?

This is a concierge, direct pay practice. By working outside of insurance, we are able to spend more time with each patient, provide comprehensive evaluations, and focus on long term performance rather than short, volume driven visits. Many patients can still use HSA or FSA funds.

  • Is surgery your first recommendation?

No. Our approach is conservative and non surgical whenever possible. The goal is to diagnose the root cause of pain, optimize joint health, and keep you competing safely. If surgery is ever necessary, we will guide you to the right specialist, but it is not the starting point.

  • Is this only for competitive tennis players?

Not at all. We treat competitive juniors, adult league players, former athletes, and active professionals who want to stay strong and pain free. If tennis is part of your life and you want to protect your longevity on the court, this practice is designed for you.

Thank you for contacting Black Tie Orthopedics. Your request has been received and will be personally reviewed by our team. We look forward to connecting with you.
