ABOUT BLACK TIE orthopedics

BLACK TIE ORTHOPEDICS EXISTS FOR TWO REASONS

01.

To elevate your tennis game to your highest potential. Be the envy of your tennis group. Cure your injuries so you are thinking about the ball, not your joints. All without surgery or medications.

02.

Provide you the best doctor's visit you have ever had. Convenient, pleasant, efficient, complete. A visit that respects your time and your busy life.

THE SURGEON WHO DOESN'T LIKE SURGERY

Injuries shouldn’t steal your passion.

Dr. William Kang didn't start out as a surgeon. He started as a professional violinist.

A career-threatening shoulder injury put everything at risk. He couldn't lift his arm without excruciating pain. Rather than accept that his playing days were over, he took a different path — exercise, swimming, and a stubborn refusal to accept his fate. He recovered fully. That experience never left him.

Dr. Kang has spent over a decade as an Orthopedic Surgeon. He has performed thousands of surgeries. And somewhere in those years he noticed something that surprised him — patients who weren't supposed to heal without surgery sometimes did. Complete quadriceps ruptures. Achilles tears. Bone on bone arthritis. The human body has amazing powers to heal — maybe surgeons should get out of the way.

Dr. Kang still practices as a surgeon. But his experience has taught him that the operating room is rarely the best answer. He is, quite simply, a surgeon who doesn’t like surgery.

Today he brings that same philosophy to Black Tie Orthopedics — a practice built specifically for tennis players who want to stay on the court without going under the knife. He plays tennis himself at a 4.5 level and understands firsthand what it means to have your game threatened by injury.

He knows the difference between an injury that needs surgery and one that doesn't. You get the truth. Not a push toward surgery.

His goal is simple. Get you back on the court. Keep you there. It's where you belong.

THE BLACK TIE DIFFERENCE

The decade Extension

The Problem:

The standard insurance model treats 60-year-old tennis players like "aging patients." They are told to "take it easy," given a generic cortisone shot, and sent to a high-volume physical therapy clinic.

We treat you like a Professional Masters Athlete. We don't just manage your pain; we optimize your biomechanics and biology to extend your playing career by a decade or more.

"Because 'just getting older' isn't a diagnosis we accept. We specialize in the non-surgical preservation of the elite tennis life."

FEATURE STANDARD INSURANCE PRACTICE Black Tie Masters Longevity
Time with Doctor 10–15 Minutes 60–90 Minutes
The "Plan" "Stop playing for 6 weeks" "Here is how we keep you playing"
Communication Phone tag with a receptionist Direct text/call with your surgeon
Philosophy Reactive (Treat the pain) Proactive (Preserve the joint)
Context You are a "Patient" You are an "Athlete"

faqs

  • Do you accept insurance?

This is a concierge, direct pay practice. By working outside of insurance, we are able to spend more time with each patient, provide comprehensive evaluations, and focus on long term performance rather than short, volume driven visits. Many patients can still use HSA or FSA funds.

  • Is surgery your first recommendation?

No. Our approach is conservative and non surgical whenever possible. The goal is to diagnose the root cause of pain, optimize joint health, and keep you competing safely. If surgery is ever necessary, we will guide you to the right specialist, but it is not the starting point.

  • Is this only for competitive tennis players?

Not at all. We treat competitive juniors, adult league players, former athletes, and active professionals who want to stay strong and pain free. If tennis is part of your life and you want to protect your longevity on the court, this practice is designed for you.

Thank you for contacting Black Tie Orthopedics. Your request has been received and will be personally reviewed by our team. We look forward to connecting with you.
